Route One Neighborhood Guide

Explore the Brookline, MA Neighborhood

As the major thoroughfare through Dedham and Norwood, Route One is the tale of two highways. Traveling south toward Providence, a four-mile stretch of the Boston-Providence Turnpike, as it is known, is called the Automile. Home to more than a dozen automotive dealerships, the Automile – running through Norwood and Westwood – is a premier destination for area car shoppers. Concert-goers, football fans and soccer enthusiasts also know Route One as a main artery leading to Gillette Stadium as it passes through the communities of Canton, Sharon and Walpole on the way to Foxboro.

Heading in the opposite direction toward Boston, Route One becomes Providence Highway as it enters Dedham. Known for its dense concentration of shopping malls, mega stores and retail establishments, Route One is home to Best Buy, Dedham Mall, Dedham Plaza, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lowe’s and the flagship shopping center in the area – Legacy Place.

As the long-remembered local automotive ad implored, “Come On Down” to explore all that this lively corridor has to offer.
